Abstract

Teaching grammar is one of the most fundamental challenges in Arabic language education programmes for non-native speakers, particularly in contexts where learners’ backgrounds vary, as is the case in educational institutions in Turkey. Given the growing interest in learning Arabic in Turkey for religious, cultural and academic reasons, it is necessary to examine the reality of grammar instruction in terms of curricula, teaching methods and the effectiveness of teachers, as well as the appropriateness of instructional content for learners. This study aims to analyse this situation through field research to identify the most significant strengths and challenges in grammar teaching in these institutions and propose effective development recommendations.
